CONSUMER QUALITY OF SERVICE REPORT OCTOBER 2016 The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) conducted a survey between August and September 2016 to gauge the perception of consumers on the quality of service delivery of licensees in the energy sector. The study was undertaken with the assistance of Central Statistical Office to develop the sampling frame, design a questionnaire, identify locations and train enumerators, for some districts. ENERGY SECTOR REPORT 2015 The ESR highlights the key successes achieved and challenges faced in 2015. In general, the energy sector experienced a number of challenges ranging frominadequate supply of electricity to isolated incidences of fuel shortages. However, despite these challenges, the sector also recorded positive developments in theformulation of the renewable energy policy and regulatory framework; investment in new power generation and transmission lines; enhanced rural electrification; and legislative reviews ![]() 8. ENERGY SECTOR REPORT 2014 Security of supply in the provision of quality energy services and products is key to economic growth and development. In 2014, a lot of progress was made in improving our country’s power supply and petroleum infrastructure. However, as a sector, we still faced a few challenges in supplying energy products and services. In our quest to overcome the challenges, the Energy Regulation Board (ERB), together with key stakeholders, implemented various programmes and projects to ensure that efficient, reliable and quality energy services and products are provided by the industry. ![]() 9. ENERGY SECTOR REPORT 2012 - 2013 The provision of sufficient quality energy services and products remains a key driver of economic development. However, the existing capacity constraints in the energy infrastructure in Zambia still pose a challenge to expanding energy access. In view of these challenges, the Energy Regulation Board (ERB) continues to facilitate the development of energy infrastructure in generation; transmission; distribution and supply in the Electricity Sub-sector. Meanwhile, the guarantee for security of supply of petroleum products and services is being attained through the rehabilitation and building of new infrastructure in refining; storage and distribution. ![]() 10. STATE OF THE INFRASTRUCTURE REPORT It is said that 'Energy is the backbone of any economy' and this maxim is certainly true for Zambia. In order to capture the full benefits of energy there must be robust and quality energy infrastructure. The existence of quality energy infrastructure is even more important at a time like this when Zambia has recorded massive economic development which has led to an increase in demand for energy products and services. ![]() 11. REPORT ON STATUS OF THE PETROLEUM INDUSTRY The Energy Regulation Board presented a report on the Status of the Petroleum Industry in Zambia, to the Parliamentary Committee on Lands, Energy and Water on 24th January 2012. ![]() 12. ENERGY SECTOR REPORT 2010 The unprecedented growth, averaging over 5% per annum, recorded over the last decade is transforming the country that has culminated in the recent reclassification of Zambia as a lower middle income country (from a low income one). Such high growth needs to be underpinned by reliable supply of quality energy products and services so that growth is not curtailed by shortages of energy products and services. ![]() 13. ENERGY SECTOR REPORT 2008 The year 2008 posed serious challenges for the Zambian energy industry. While both the electricity and petroleum sub-sectors experienced major challenges, a number of positive developments in the sector were recorded. ![]() 14. APPROVED TARIFFS FOR ZENGAMINA POWER STATION LIMITED The Energy Regulation Board in May 2008, approved the tariff schedule for Zengamina Power Station Limited, after considering submissions by both the utility and the local community. ![]() |
