In line with the provisions of the Energy Regulation Act, the operations of the ERB are largely funded from licence fees collected through the regulated undertakings. The licence application fee to operate an energy undertaking is equivalent to 0.1% of the cost of an undertaking or cost of establishing an undertaking. The annual licence fee is up to a maximum of 0.8% of the turnover of an undertaking. The current collection rate is 0.7%. The Act also allows the ERB to receive grants from Government by way of appropriation through Parliament and other international co-operating partners (donors).
